Through the partnership, students can be tested and treated for different illnesses, such as sore throat, headache, skin rash, pink eye, upset stomach and the common cold. El Monte Union High School District students are receiving in-depth training in sports therapy and rehab thanks to the District’s new afterschool Sports Medicine Program, offered at Rosemead, South El Monte and Arroyo high schools. For her willingness to go above and beyond and be a source of positivity for students during the school day, Paz, an Arroyo High School Class of 2008 alumna, has been honored as a Bobby Salcedo Esperanza Award recipient by the El Monte Promise Foundation. Paz received her award at the Foundation’s annual Tamalada Gala on Dec. 8.

South El Monte High School teacher and AVID Coordinator Cesar Castellanos was honored with the 2017 Bobby Salcedo Esperanza Award at the El Monte Promise Foundation’s 14th annual Tamalada fundraiser on.December 14. Mr. Castellanos, a Rosemead High School graduate, has been an English teacher at El Monte Union since 2011 and was recognized for his tireless efforts to ensure students believe in themselves and succeed. Congratulations to our Academic Decathlon team under the direction of Coach Oscar Castillo. Our Eagles won the "Rookie of the Year" award for the highest points earned by any new team in Los Angeles County.
